Our goals are twofold, to enhance the short story reading experience for our public, and to help people who desire to be more and better authors of short stories. Part One was implemented by creating the StoryStar app, which makes accessing stories from our companion website, StoryStar.com easier. Part Two will be advanced by creating a number of articles featuring information to help beginning authors improve their writing technique. We make no claim that we are experts at training authors, but we do believe that what we present will be useful.
To summarize what will be covered in later articles, it is generally believed that a good short story adheres to several rules, as well as being uniquely crafted with talent. Those rules include but are not limited to the following categories, which are not presented in order of importance:
• Characterization
• Conflict
• Description
• Plot
At least one article will be devoted to each of these categories to give the budding author a basic idea of the topic. At the end of each article, a list of additional sources will be provided for those interested in further investigation and improvement.
We are not the only, nor even the best, source of this knowledge. We are the one you found this time, and hope that we will be useful in getting you started on a journey that will lead to happiness and fulfillment as an author.
